Freelance Children's Book Illustrator for Hire
I offer services as a freelance children’s book illustrator because I love illustrating children’s books and bringing the story to life. I am a long-time professional freelance cartoonist and illustrator that works in many different illustration styles. I have a love and immense passion for creating children’s illustrations, so it was natural for me to move into illustrating children’s books over 10 years ago.
I am also a career-long graphic designer who knows the mechanics of book layout and has experience in book publishing so I can help you in many ways to create your children’s book. I can also help you find the best children’s book printers and get comparable estimates from them.
Children’s Book Illustration
The number of illustrations needed for a children’s book greatly depends on the target audience age. For young readers, picture books play an important role in child development. Beautiful illustrations will not only engage the young reader, they’ll also help sell your book. Hiring the right children’s book illustrator is very important to the success of your children’s book.
Putting the Children’s Book Together
Along with your story and the children’s book illustrations, is the need to put it altogether into a physical book or ebook, with front matter, back matter, book covers, ISBN numbers, library of congress numbers, and so much more. It can be overwhelming, but not if you hire the right children’s book illustrator who is also a professional graphic designer with book layout and publishing experience like myself.
How I Can Help
Whether you want a children’s book cover illustrated, or want a fully illustrated children’s book, or just want me to layout your children’s book with your story and the children’s illustrations you already have, you’ve come to the right place. I can help.
I can work with you to bring your story to life, or I can design your children’s book, or I can take your direction and just put together the files needed for your book printer. The choice is yours, but certainly the more you can take advantage of my knowledge, design, and illustration expertise, the better your children’s book will be.
Children’s Book Illustration Budget
Another factor to consider in hiring a children’s book illustrator is the budget. It is impossible to give a general estimate for children’s book illustration because each illustration is dependent on the number of hours it takes to complete an illustration, which will be dependent upon the complexity of what you’re asking to be illustrated. In short, the more detail, the more time. I can state that the average picture book takes a minimum of two months to illustrate between the initial sketches through the final art of all the pages, covers, book layout, and printers’ file preparations.
It’s not often that a children’s book illustrator can show-off their work as an illustrator AND as the book designer, but I can! Below are a few samples of children’s books I’ve illustrated where I also provided graphic design, book layout and publishing services. You can also visit my Books, Booklets, and Brochures page to see samples of other books involving book cover design and book layout.
