Packaging Design and Package Illustration Portfolio
Product packaging is all about the visual message. The package design of your product can subtly influence shopper behavior as to whether to buy. Does your product stand out on crowded store shelving? Or does your product packaging reflect the message you want your products to convey? Or do your products reflect your company branding? These are all important answers that should be considered by you and a freelance packaging designer when designing your packaging. I have experience as a freelance packaging designer and can help you make your mark with your product packaging too!
One of the benefits of partnering with me is that you get an experienced packaging designer and experienced illustrator to create and deliver effective, memorable, and successful packaging that will stand out on the shelf, and influence the shopper’s decision to buy your product.
This portfolio contains different samples of my work as a packaging designer and packaging illustrator. Some are samples where I provided freelance services as a packaging designer to design and layout the product packaging, others where I provided freelance illustration services creating different photo realistic illustrations or cartoon illustrations on the products or for the product packaging, and finally, some samples where I provided services as a freelance packaging designer AND freelance illustrator for the products and the product packaging.

Packaging Designer
Malane Newman is a freelance graphic designer with additional specialized skills as a packaging designer that will help your product to stand out from competitors, influence the consumer’s purchasing decision, and help to persuade the consumer to buy your product over your competitors.
She knows that the physical look of your product packaging is frequently the sole reason for a product’s sale. She uses her experience to design well-crafted packaging by applying her experience in graphic design, marketing principles, psychology of color, fads and trends knowledge, target audience understanding, and more.
Package Illustration
For some products, having illustrations on the packaging works especially well for increasing sales. An example would be a clean, crisp, and eye-appealing illustration of food on food packaging, or character and cartooned package illustrations for products targeting children as in breakfast cereals or toys. Other examples of packaging illustrations might be an illustrated concept or informational illustration on the packaging itself. No matter what type of packaging illustration you need, Malane Newman can provide those services.
Malane Newman is a talented freelance illustrator that has partnered with established brands and startups. Her package illustrations have helped to influence shopper perceptions, enhance brands and increase consumer sales over their competitors.
Product Illustrations
Some companies may want illustrations to adore their products but don’t have the budget to purchase licensed illustrations or they may want illustrations that they could own exclusively to place onto multiple products and their packaging. Other product illustrations might need to show the product being used or their product concept explained in visual terms. This would be particularly helpful across multiple languages.
As shown on the Expandable Vase products below, simple eye-catching illustrations are often needed for products, whether geometric designs, display lettering, or composite of uniquely illustrated elements.
No matter what type of product illustration you need, Malane Newman offers a lifetime of illustration skills that range from photo realism to bold graphic to cartooning and transfers ownership of the illustrations at the completion of the project.
Product Labels
Sometimes it’s not packaging design that you need, sometimes it is just product labels. An example of this might be gift baskets, gourmet foods, or products that hang from labels.
Many of the principles of successful packaging design can be applied to designing product labels except that you’re working with less space than you would with packaging. So it becomes even more vitally important to choose the right elements, use your design space wisely, and partner with a trusted packaging designer like Malane Newman.
