Poster Illustrations - Freelance Illustrator Portfolio
As a freelance illustrator for hire, I am often asked to estimate the cost of illustrating a poster. Poster illustration can vary greatly in price as the amount of time necessary to illustrate posters can and do vary greatly in time and labor. The tabs below explain a few of the posters you will see in this freelance illustrator’s portfolio.
As you will see from the descriptions of the various freelance poster illustrations in this portfolio, the time to illustrate each one depends greatly on the amount of detail to depict what the client wants and the necessary time to complete those illustration requirements.
Freelance Illustration of 1950’s Life Theme Park Poster
This is a freelance illustration of a poster that took several months to illustrate. The reason for the length of time is that it is a poster of a proposed theme park concept with over 50 buildings depicting 1950s life. The theme park is segmented into 5 main categories: Lifestyles and Culture, Music, 50’s Hollywood, Television, and News & Events. There are over 50 buildings illustrated in combination of 1950s architecture and/or Disney theme park style. There are also 1950’s billboards and neon signs, famous actors and actresses of the time, popular 1950s restaurants, and many other memorabilia-related events to spark the viewer’s memory of life in the 1950s. You could easily spend a lot of time looking around this freelance illustrator’s poster in order to take in everything happening within it.
Freelance Illustration of Superman Poster with Client’s Character Likeness as Superman and Clark Kent
This is a freelance illustration of a Superman comic book-style poster where I illustrated the character likeness of a person from a client-provided photo and made that individual to be both Clark Kent and Superman within the poster. This freelance illustrator poster also included Superman flying over a series of buildings with the Daily Planet building prominently in the background.
Freelance Illustrations of 3 Different Unique Beer Posters
- The first freelance illustration of a poster was a photo realistic illustration of an old English pub sign mounted on wood. Additionally the edges of the old paper have been worn off due to the advancing of time.
- The second freelance illustration of a poster was an illustration of a humorous, yet realistically drawn, old western Wanted poster complete with tattered and torn edges. Additionally the old Wanted poster appears to be mounted on knotted wood paneling with old paint strategically placed in different spots to complete the illusion.
- The third freelance illustration of a poster was a humorous, yet realistically illustrated FBI Wanted poster with two corners of the poster curling up. Additionally, the FBI poster appears to be mounted on a piece of wood.
Freelance Illustration of Carnival Poster
This is a freelance illustration of a poster that advertises a Carnival event planned. The poster has some cartooning illustrated in the center that shows a drone view of a variety of visitors, tents and booths with a carnival barker placed prominently to the side. This part of the illustrated poster did take some time to complete because of this center illustration. The remainder of the poster took far less time because it consists of ornamental elements and a large variety of display text resembling carnival-style posters of the past.
